In a conventional approach, the backhaul traffic will go through the SA core deployed with Microamp 5G mmWave RAN and regular CPE. This is the easiest way to implement backhaul using Microamp 5G mmWave's default configuration.
The Backhaul Adaptation Protocol approach is based on the Microamp 5G mmWave RAN and CPE that support BAP defined in 3GPP rel-16. In this scenario, all LTE/FR1 backhaul traffic is broken out at the Distributed Unit plane so that no user plane traffic goes through the Centralized Unit. As a result, there is no need to add a new 5G core for cell site backhaul. Thanks to the disaggregated RAN, the Microamp 5G mmWave platform achieves optimized performance for this architecture.
