Microamp, a pioneer in resilient, mission-critical communications, successfully demonstrated deployable tactical connectivity solutions at IEEE MILCOM 2026 in Washington, DC. Held on 12–16 October, the premier military communications conference served as an ideal environment for Microamp to demonstrate how deployable 5G mmWave networks enhance operational connectivity in contested environments.

The Microamp team engaged with defence command representatives, industry leaders and system integrators seeking communication systems resilient to detection and jamming.

Practical Capabilities at the Tactical Edge

On Monday, 12 October, the Microamp team presented practical capability demonstrations highlighting network resilience in high-threat scenarios. During the workshop presentation, "Communicate Without Being Seen: Jamming-Resistant, AI-Driven LPI/LPD mmWave Connectivity for Multi-Domain Scenarios", the team showcased how replacing omnidirectional transmissions with adaptive directional mmWave links eliminates signal exposure. The session demonstrated how private Microamp 5G mmWave networks deliver deterministic multi-gigabit throughput for real-time Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) data feeds while maintaining Low Probability of Intercept (LPI) and Low Probability of Detection (LPD) capabilities.

Throughout the day at the demo table, "5G mmWave Platform for ISAC and Physical AI", attendees explored the convergence of Integrated Sensing and Communications (ISAC) with physical AI. Demonstrations highlighted how the Microamp 5G mmWave system enables simultaneous environmental sensing and high-capacity data transmission within a single network infrastructure.

NATO Practice and Operational Readiness

Moving from live demonstrations to battlefield integration, our CTO Marcin Góralczyk participated in the technical panel on Wednesday, 14 October: "Putting 5G and 6G Technology into Practice for NATO: Testing, Operational Requirements and Commercial Availability". Organised by Alex Hamilton (Qualcomm) the session brought together operators, researchers, test authorities and industry leaders, including Ed Tiedemann (Qualcomm), J. Gordon Beattie, Jr. (VIAVI Solutions), Tuomas Paso (University of Oulu / 6G Flagship), Janis Grevins (LMT) and Capt. Lucas Vancina (United States Marine Corps).

The panel addressed the challenge of transitioning 5G mmWave and 6G concepts into field-ready capabilities. Marcin Góralczyk highlighted how proven market maturity and agile SME innovation enable military leaders to overcome integration constraints and achieve operational readiness faster. He emphasised the advantage of operating beyond standard network specifications while maintaining full 3GPP compliance for COTS devices. The discussion centred on moving technical concepts into deployable capabilities, focusing on field validation regimes, Allied interoperability and real-world execution to give commanders confidence in contested environments.

By combining tactical edge demonstrations with high-level discussions on NATO integration, Microamp showcased the readiness of 5G mmWave platforms for immediate field deployment.
