Microamp, a global leader in high-performance 5G mmWave technology, concluded a landmark week at MWC Barcelona 2026, demonstrating the maturity and versatility of its deterministic wireless networks. Across four days of intensive live demonstrations and strategic announcements, the company proved that ultra-high capacity, near-zero latency connectivity is now a production-ready reality for the most demanding terrestrial and non-terrestrial operations.
At the main Microamp booth in Hall 5 (Stand 5C21), the company hosted a continuous live demo of its end-to-end 5G mmWave system, highlighting its readiness for immediate deployment across industrial verticals. The technical showcase focused on the system’s ability to handle deterministic, uplink-heavy operations, featuring:
Advanced 5G LAN & IAB: demonstration of 5G LAN capabilities and Integrated Access and Backhaul (IAB) for flexible, high-capacity network expansion;
Vertical-Specific Solutions: showcasing tailored applications for ports (remote automation), media & broadcasting (wireless contribution links) and live events (temporary high-capacity uplink).
A primary technical highlight was the live link established between the MWC exhibition hall and the European Space Agency (ESA) LUNA facility. Located at the European Space Agency’s (ESA) Astronaut Centre in Cologne, Germany, LUNA is a joint project between ESA and the German Aerospace Center (DLR). As an internationally distinct competence center, LUNA is crucial for the preparation of future human and robotic missions. It provides a unique environment that enables complex simulations for astronauts and robotic systems alike, recreating lunar conditions to test technologies that will be vital when humanity returns to the lunar surface.
Utilizing Microamp’s NTN architecture, the demonstration facilitated:
High-Throughput Uplink: Real-time streaming of ultra-high-resolution 360° video from the "Microamp Bubble" on the lunar surface;
Mixed-Reality Integration: Data-intensive interaction with the lunar surface, underscoring the role of mmWave in enabling complex space communication payloads.
At the Poland Pavilion, hosted by the Ministry of Digital Affairs, Microamp showcased its resilient 5G mmWave systems designed for critical infrastructure. The technical presentation focused on:
Sovereign Security: Implementation of LPD/LPI (Low Probability of Detection/Low Probability of Intercept) connectivity, providing jam-resistant communications for defense and mission-critical sectors;
Architectural Flexibility: Deployment scenarios for 5G LAN, IAB (Integrated Access and Backhaul) and high-mobility modes, ensuring deterministic connectivity in dense industrial environments such as automated ports and smart manufacturing hubs.
Microamp demonstrated deep integration with global infrastructure partners, showcasing the versatility of its CellBox radio series across multiple stands:
Supermicro: Feature of the CellBox Air 5G mmWave gNodeB, optimized for extreme-capacity, edge-compute heavy deployments;
Radisys: Display of the CellBox NTN 5G mmWave radio, specifically engineered for regenerative payloads in satellite communications;
Sumitomo Electric: A joint demonstration of semiDAS™ (mmWave-ready Distributed Antenna System) utilizing the CellBox Lite 5G mmWave radio for localized high-capacity coverage.
Microamp also formalized a strategic partnership with Hytec Inter to accelerate the deployment of 5G mmWave infrastructure across Japan and the APAC region. This partnership focuses on delivering high-performance, deterministic wireless connectivity to industrial sectors requiring localized, high-bandwidth uplink capabilities.
“Our presence at MWC 2026 has confirmed that 5G mmWave is the definitive solution for deterministic, uplink-heavy wireless operations. Whether it is enabling remote operations in a port, securing a defense perimeter or connecting a rover on the Moon, our 5G mmWave networks provide the reliability and throughput required for the next generation of critical communication infrastructure."
